How Often Should You Change Your Oil?
Motor oil is the life blood of your vehicle. Oil’s main job
is to lubricate and clean the moving parts of your engine. In other words, oil
keeps your vehicle running. It is also vital to change your motor oil often.
The general rule of thumb is that you should change your oil every 3 months or
every 3,000 miles, whichever comes first. However, this is not always the case.

How Oil Changes Can Increase MPG

Here are the main suspects that can decrease oil efficiency:

Jiffy Lube Fuel System Cleaning Service
Our Fuel System Cleaning Service will help dislodge and remove deposits of
dirt and varnish on intake valves and cylinder heads—the very places you need
to keep clean in your fuel system. The end result is a cleaner fuel system.
Every time a vehicle’s driver presses the gas pedal, they are controlling how much fuel and air the engine takes in. The pedal tells the throttle valve how much air to let in and the computer tells the fuel system how much fuel to deliver. These calculated amounts of air and fuel are typically mixed together before being sucked into the combustion chamber of an engine cylinder. There the spark plug ignites the mixture, producing the controlled burn that powers the vehicle.

What does 10W30 Grade Motor Oil Mean?
You
see those cryptic combinations of letters and numbers on motor oil bottles
everywhere. What do they mean?
To
decipher them, you have to understand viscosity. Viscosity measures how much
the motor oil can resist flow. In other words, if you tip a motor oil bottle
over, how fast it spills out indicates its viscosity. The more viscous, the
slower it moves.

Air Filter: Keep it Clean to Maximize MPG
Did you know a dirty air filter can severely decrease the
performance of your vehicle and lower your gas mileage? Just like you and me,
your vehicle needs to breathe. However, the air quality outside is not always
the greatest. Your vehicle filters the airflow to your engine through the
engine air filter. Over time, the filter gets dirty and clogged. When this
happens, your engine struggles to breathe, which decreases performance and
lowers your vehicles fuel efficiency by up to 14 percent. See your owner’s
manual for how often your air filter should be checked and replaced.

Maintenance Tips: Oil and Filter
Did
you know that keeping your oil clean is the most vital step you can take in
order to keep your engine healthy? In addition to changing your oil and oil
filter regularly, it is important to check your oil level with the dipstick
every time you fill up with gas. Driving your vehicle when the oil level is low
deprives your engine of the critical lubrication it needs and can cause severe
engine problems. Make sure to keep your oil level full to maximize the life of
your vehicle.
